Man, oh man. Talk about a jewel and what suddenly appears but this parlor-sized Larrivee P-09 Acoustic Guitar made in the USA.
Let’s start with her vitals. She delivers a Canadian Sitka Spruce top, Rosewood back and sides, a Mahogany neck with a compounded Ebony fingerboard and Canadian Maple body binding. My goodness, that’s a lot of sweet tone wood.
Then there are details like her chrome 18:1 tuners, Ivoroid fretboard binding, gorgeous abalone rosette, bone nut and compensated saddle, and custom beveled pick guard. Of course, you cannot overlook her headstock with a pearl logo and sterling silver border. I’m working up a sweat just describing her.
She’s in near perfect condition with one small, barely visible flaw on her top (I looked and looked but couldn’t find it) and a few small scuffs to her included hardshell case. Oh, the agony.
If you don’t know the Larrivee brand, it’s the brainchild of Jean Larriveee who was interested in classical guitar, ended up apprenticing for well-respected German luthier and then struck out on his own in the 70s in Canada before moving to California in 2011. Jean is now in his 70s and still happy as a clam making beautiful instruments. You can learn more about him here.
Seller lists all the details of her size, so if you want to dig into that, be my guest. Seller doesn’t say when she was made but it never hurts to ask. Curiously, seller never writes how she plays or sounds though I’m guessing it’s a) great and b) like a bird.
