Here’s a fine play on the Gibson J-45 slope shoulder dread, all gussied up in Pelham Blue by the Gibson Custom Shop in a limited run of 75 guitars.
The J-45 has earned a reputation as a workhorse with classic lines and tone. The Pelham Blue finish is really cool, and the seller claims it will age into a fine blue/green that you can supposedly see starting on the wings of the headstock. The photo, though, does not do that claim justice to my eyes.
This beauty comes with a solid Sitka spruce top, solid Mahogany sides and back, plus an L.R. Baggs Element pickup if you want to plug in. (Though J-45s are known for their balanced voice and projection, so you may just want to play her buck naked.)
Her listed price is $2579.99 and the seller invites offers. So there may be an opportunity to bring this honey home for a bit less. There’s no mention of a case. You best check on that.
Quite a few folks are watching this Pelham Blue Gibson J-45 on eBay, so if you’re going to make a move, you might want to get a move on. Because you know someone is going to.
