Gibson SG Standard Cherry 1989 Vintage Guitar

Stumbled across this Gibson SG Standard Cherry 1989 Vintage Guitar using Muddy’s Law. Muddy’s Law states that if there are people watching well then there is something to see. With 21 sets of peekers at the time, I dove into this Gibson SG Electric Guitar a little deeper. Figured I’d close my eyes, hum a little tune and see if she’d hum right back at Ole’ Muddy. Wouldn’t you know this solid wood, ruby red Gibson obliged. If I had her for a night I’d call this guitar Rose for her deep red color and see where the night would take us…

Born in 1989, I’d play this Gibson SG Standard Electric something familiar from her birth year. The SG Standard is Gibson’s best-selling model of all time. So as popular as she is, I revisited the year’s Billboard Hot 100 to see what would suit Ruby Rose. At the top of the charts in ’89 was Chicago’s “Look Away” (#1) and Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative” (#2). Muddy knew neither hit would strike a chord between the two of us. Now #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 from 1989 was “Every Rose Has It’s Thorn” from a crew of my favorite late ’80s rockers, Poison. This is a ballad more suitable for Muddy and my Gibson Red Rose.

The song title and lyrics are fitting for a classic Gibson SG Standard and a mixed up Muddy ole’ dog like me. But just as “Every night has it’s dawn”, the auction for this SG Standard Electric will come to an end soon. Now, you’ve caught Muddy dreaming about this Gibson so here’s your chance. Snatch her up and see if she wants to dance.
